Research and Published Studies

In a recently published study, conducted on osteoarthritic dogs at Murray State University in Kentucky and presented at the annual meeting of the Society of Toxicology shows that UC-II®, an undenatured form of type II collagen found in the cartilage of bone joints, is more than twice as effective in decreasing pain in osteoarthritic dogs than glucosamine and chondroitin alone. It was also found to be more than twice as effective in reducing pain and increasing joint flexibility and activity than glucosamine and chondroitin alone.

The Study conducted on large breed dogs, which commonly experience arthritis due to obesity, injury, age and immune disorders found:

• Overall Pain was reduced by by 62%
• Painful Limb movement decreased by 91%
• Lameness was reduced by 78%

No adverse effects or changes in liver, heart or kidney functions were observed in any of the animals in the study.


An independent study published last year in the Journal of Veterinary Pharmacological and Therapeutics presented clinical research showing that UC-II had also reduced pain and lameness in large and small arthritic dogs.
